Lily Baron was born and raised in Duesseldorf, Germany, surrounded by a family that embraced creativity. She studied at a design school and is a trained tailor. After working as a designer in the fashion industry for an independent hip-hop label as well as for international brands, specializing in prints and embroideries, her affinity for storytelling and animal characters led her to teach herself illustration. Lily‘s artwork is character-driven, colorful, clean, both educational and fun. Children’s books with hand-drawn textures are her medium. Sometimes a character also makes it onto a greeting card or a mural. Lily prefers to put everything together in Procreate. Her children‘s books ’Hier kommt Mila!’ and ‘Just Being Fred’ were published in the UK and Germany, Her book 'Just being Fred‘ won silver in the Readers Choice Award 2022 (best children’s book 3-7).

Veggies and animals often take center stage in her illustrations. Her craft came rather naturally since she always loved to tell stories. Her own gardening, spending time with her family, and teaching children in elementary school ceramics, keep her work grounded and inspired.
